BAM festival has always been a platform for home-grown groups. Now that it is coming of age, with 18 editions , it is making the local scene its star attraction.

Even so, up to 15 nationalities are represented among the 70 artists taking part in BAM, so you’ll have plenty to choose from. As in previous years, you’ll be able to see a whole string of promising groups playing live in the city, including Everything Everything and The Morning Benders.

And there will be no shortage of established names either, such as Belle & Sebastian (who are playing in the concert at the old Estrella Damm brewery), Goldfrapp, Ash and Le Peuble de l’Herbe.

Another, highly interesting feature of the programme is the invitation to discover a whole series of female singers, such as the energetic rock of Maika Makovski, the folk music of Sophie Hunger from Switzerland, the soul of Selah Sue from Belgium, the American songs of Madrid-based Tulsa, the raï of Hindri Zahra and the folk of Ólöf Arnald from Iceland.

In addition, that same venue will be hosting a series of shows featuring different projects getting together on stage, such as Color Humano and Yacine & The Oriental Groove, or Mujeres and The Surfing Sirles.

BAM opens its new day programme with a series of “concerts vermut“, aperitif concerts, at Plaça del Rei, with a range to suit all tastes. This year BAM gets back two traditional venues: Plaça dels Àngels and Plaça de Joan Coromines, which will alternate to provide non-stop music.
