Soho Barcelona Hotel review…

“Both myself and my husband stayed in the SoHo last weekend (3/8/07-7/8/07).

The hotel was a fantastic experience, as the room we stayed in was of a very high standard and we were very impressed by the hotels cleanliness.

The staff, and in particular Oliver were extremely helpfull, Oliver was very informative, and gave us great advice on local restaurants, bars and shopping.

The rooftop terrace is a great feature of the hotel, as it gives you panoramic views of Barcelona city and of the surrounding mountains. Although, it would greatly benefit of the addition of a rooftop bar.

Without a doubt would definetely stay in the SoHo hotel again, and would also highly recommend the hotel to friends and family.”

Great hotel, we´ll be back! – Hotel Jazz

“Thank you again (our second time at The Jazz) for a great experience. We just love the hotel; the super location, the nice modern rooms, the friendly staff and the delicious breakfast. Unfortunately we only stayed in Barca for a couple of days so we didn’t have time to try out the pool – great thing though that there is a pool in a city hotel :) . ”

Gran Via Hotel Barcelona Spain

“We stayed at the Gran Via In July 2007 and would definitely stay there again. The triple room we had was quite large, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was very nice, good size and always very clean. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and the location could not have been better. It is a short 2 block walk to the bus stop from the airport and the tourist information center at the Placa de Catalunya. The Ramblas and the Barri Gothic are very nearby as are the Modernista sights in the Eixample. The hotel itself is lovely with a large parlor on the second floor and an outdoor courtyard. Considering the central location, our room was totally quiet, and we were never bothered by street noise or noise within the hotel. The air conditioning worked well. We could access the internet from the parlor on the second floor, but not from our room. All in all, we were very pleased with our decision to stay at the Gran Via, and would highly recommend it.”

Hotel 1898

“After much searching of various travel sites my friend and I opted for Hotel 1898 for our first stay in Barcelona.Upon booking I requested a twin room and then emailed the Hotel to further my request.A promt reply came advising me that such a request could not be confirmed until rooms were allocated nearer to my stay – something I found rather strange.

The Hotel is in an excellent location – right in the hub of La Rambla yet a quiet haven once through the doors. We were greeted by curtious staff and were in fact allocated a twin room as previously requested! We were not escorted to our rooms but I’m sure we could have had this service had we requested it.

Room 415 – away from the lifts! and just as pictured on all the web sites. It was spotlessly clean and serviced twice a day.Tea and coffee making facilities were an unexpected bonus as they are not often provided in Europe I believe. There was no view from the room – in fact we had to keep the curtains closed due to being overlooked but this was not usually a problem.During the evening the was some ‘noise’ from muted music (same everynight) and I’m not sure where it came from but it didn’t keep us awake.

Two very minor complaints were that a) some technical information as regards the room would have been nice ie how to work the two showers/bath taps without flooding the room (managed eventually) , instructions as to lighting settings (various!) air conditioning settings ( roasted first night but then the non English speaking maid kindly showed us where the controls were (in the cupboard) and how to use them. This made all the difference and allowed us to set it for various times of the day..

The roof top terrace and swiming pool were lovely but the music could have been changed a bit more – same thing for four days is a bit much.

All in all a lovely Hotel.”

So Ho(t)!

“Browsing the Internet for a place to stay at in Barcelona, I chanced upon Hotel SOHO and couldnt believe the pictures on the wesbite. Everything looked perfect, modern and very stylish, just as we like it. My excitement soon turned to scepticism when I realised that most hotels post glossy pics on their sites and when you actually land up, its a whole different picture. Not with Hotel SOHO. It was everything we dreamed of, and more!

Our first impression as we walked into the lobby area was ‘WOW’. We we greeted by Alessio, who was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was amazing. Luckily we got a back-facing room, as we had requested, away from the noise of the main road. Everything about it was perfect! It was super comfortable and very convenient, while at the same time, very modern and classy.  Both of us really appreciate good design and from the doorknobs to the window blinds, everything was brilliantly thought out. We stayed here 8 nights, and every single night, after a long day out in the sun, sightseeing and partying, coming ‘home’ to our room was bliss. The media centre, with its free internet access was a pure bonus!

If I could make a few suggestions, they would be: Better lightning in the bathroom, and the possibility to make coffee/tea in the room (when room service is closed).

Oliver, our wonderful friend at the reception made our stay so worthwhile with his many suggestions for places to go and where to eat. I was touched by the grace and hospitability of everyone who worked there. When my husband was ill for 2 days, we were helped with medicine and room service - beyond the call of duty. When I expressed my thanks for this, I was told to think of the place as my home and feel free to ask for anything we might need. Such service is rare to come by these days, and we are very happy with our entire experience. Thank you!

We will surely return to Barcelona, and there is only one hotel to stay at – Hotel SOHO. See you soon Alessio and Oliver!”

The trip to Barcelona in July 2007 was fantastic. I knew Barcelona, and what i say it is that I adored to revisit this wonderful city with a proper identity and full of life. The hotel is excellent, good localization, good decoration, clean and comfortable rooms. The staff is very likeable and considerate. They are all of congratulations. A good hotel in its category. For everything I bring good memory of Barcelona and I recommend to all to visit the city and stay in Paral.lel hotel

“I had the pleasure of staying at U232 for a period of 11 days in July 2007. The hotel is wonderful: tasteful and elegant interiors, great beds, state of the art bathrooms, polite and friendly service, great location, copious breakfast and free internet. Great location on Conde d’Urgell within walking distance to the Gran Via and the Diagonal. There are excellent restaurants close to the hotel.

I would highly recommend the U232 and would definitely return upon my next stay in Barcelona.”
