The city’s two main design institutes, Foment de les Arts i del Disseny (FAD) and the Barcelona Centre de Disseny, joined forces last year to create a benchmark event in this field, the Barcelona Design Festival.
The Barcelona Design Festival kicks off on 26 June, with the official opening of an exhibition entitled FADExpo. The Best Design of the Year, which features the finalists and winners of the prizes awarded by FAD’s various associations.
The festival will continue until 5 October, with the closing of the 7th edition of the BCN Design Week, which comes under this big umbrella event and features Sweden as this year’s guest country.
There will be another edition of the Summer BCN Design Tour, a route participants can follow, using a mobile application guide, to visit buildings, shops, bars and bookshops linked to the world of design.
This edition’s new sections include a film and design cycle at the Filmoteca de Catalunya and the Open Design – Shared Creativity Conference.
Once again the event will be combining promotional activities aimed at a wide public with other activities designed for professionals and businesses. The goal is to highlight this strategic sector.
