Barcelona is the chosen host venue for one of the world’s most important horse riding competitions: the Peter Dale Cup; which will take place at this coming 12 and 13 April 2014.
The Peter Dale Cup is also the Pony Club Mounted Games European Cup and consists of five events in all. The first of these will take place in Barcelona and the rest in Istres and Cluny (France), Geneva (Switzerland) and finally in Turin (Italy).
The competition includes the following categories: Under-12, Under-14, Under-17 and Open, for which young riders over the age of 17 are eligible. Over 300 riders from various countries in Europe are expected to take part: France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Germany and Spain.
The competition is part of the Barcelona Equestrian Challenge, a project to promote the world of horses in Barcelona, spearheaded by Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Royal Polo Club.
Under this initiative, Barcelona will be the world equestrian capital for the three coming years and play host to a series of activities and competitions that take account of the sports, educational, cultural and healthcare aspects of the world of horses.
