I stayed at the Hotel Jazz for 3 nights in May, everything about the hotel was perfect. The rooms were very clean and extremely spacious, exceeded my expectation by far. The staff were very helpful and could not do enough for you. The location could not be better, minutes walk to the main Catalunya Plaza but far enough to not be a noisy hotel and it felt safe arriving back at the hotel late at night as it is situated between busy roads. Excellent transport links too, the airport bus drops you just over the road by the University and you can catch it back to the airport from the main Cataluntya Plaza which is about 3mins walk, it also has the Universitat Metro less than 1minute walk away. Will be booking again next time I go to Barcelona!

Barcelona X Games until 2015

Barcelona is to be one of the European host cities for the world’s most important urban and extreme sports event: the X Games, from 2013 to 2015, by the ESPN (Entertainment and Sports Programming Network).

It has already had a taste of these extreme action sports, with the Barcelona Extremes, and now Barcelona is set to play host to the X Games, along with five other cities.

As with Iguazú and Munich, Barcelona will be joining up with the other three host cities for these games -Aspen, Tignes and Los Angeles- and will be holding the skate, BMX, rally and moto X competitions, plus competitions in a further sixteen disciplines, from 9 to 12 May from 2013 to 2015.

Montjuïc mountain will become the centre of extreme sports for four days, with Moto Dirt and Rally Car events being held at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, the mega ramp at the Palau Sant Jordi and the Half Pipe at the Olympic Pool.

There will also be a complementary activity area offering exhibitions, a children’s area and an urban sports park inside the Olympic Ring.

To mark the event, the City Council has pledged to increase the city’s number of skate parks. This will also bring the city a good legacy of urban-sport infrastructures.

Hotel Jazz has superb location close to Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated with alll the amenities you need.
After spending a day on the georgeous rooftop terrace by the swimmingpool , you will be ready to do Barcelona by night. Highly recommend this hotel.

U232 Hotel - Fitness room

I stayed at the U232 Hotel last June. It is a fantastic hotel and a great base for anyone wishing to visit Barcelona.

The room was faultless, as were the staff.

I will be returning to U232 when I next get the chance to visit Barcelona – and given how much I enjoyed my last trip there, that won’t be too long!

We stayed at your beautiful hotel l6th – l9th April 2012 – Excellent service and room very spacious and very clean – breakfast was worth getting up for, it was delicious, plenty of choice. The staff were always friendy and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again in the future as Barcelona is now a city that we will return to visit.

I should like to take this opportunity to say thank you for our recent stay. The hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable though the lighting in the bedrooms was not very good particularly for reading. The staff were very professional, polite, helpful, efficient and attentive. I would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone who is visiting Barcelona.

April Fair of Catalonia

The duende, the flamenco chair, the costumes of faralaes and the traditional firework display lighting up a dark and mysterious sky.

This collage of ideas is the essence of the poster for this year’s April Fair of Catalonia, an unmissable annual event for Andalusians who have settled in Catalonia and for all citizens of Barcelona, which this year is celebrating its 41st edition.

The poster is the work of painter Joan-Pere Viladecans and, as he explained during the presentation, it was inspired by “the genius of Lorca“, by his Romancero gitano and by his links with Barcelona.

This is precisely the idea he has tried to express and which to many people represents the Catalan April Fair: a mixing of cultures and a meeting point for two traditions which year after year come together at the Forum to enjoy music, happiness, colour and good food.

The fair gets underway on 27 April with the traditional firework display, coinciding – as the Mayor reminded his audience – with the celebration of the Virgin of Montserrat day.It will be followed by ten days of light and colour that will mark the end of the mother festival, the Seville April Fair.

3rd Barcelona Restaurant Week

From 13 to 22 April, more than thirty of the city’s top restaurants are taking part in this third edition of Barcelona Restaurant Week.

The initiative, with the Flavour of the Year (“Sabor del Año“) stamp of quality, has been held in over one hundred cities around the world since it began in 1995, in New York. The idea is simple: you will be able to enjoy haute cuisine at a price of 25 euros per menu (excluded drinks & VAT). The menus are created specifically for Restaurant Week.

One euro from each menu will be donated to the ONCE Guide Dog Foundation and the Spanish Heart Foundation (charitable causes). Last year, some 15.000 euros were donated to collaborating NGOs.

In Barcelona, you will be able to savour the special menus, some of whose head chefs have been awarded a Michelin Star, such as the Torres brothers’ Do2. This year, the restaurants Visual, Comiols, Loidi, Petit Comité, H1898, Bravo 24, Osmosis, César Pastor and Restaurant 4 Capellans have joined the list of those taking part.
