“My husband and I stayed at Hotel Jazz for 3 nights after a cruise and were very pleased with the experience! The check-in was swift, and our room was pleasant, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The furnishings are spartan (bed, one chair, desk/dresser, HD TV), but they are quite enough since you probably aren’t in Barcelona to stay in your room.
Our room was on the 7th floor and faced Carrer de Universitat, a busy street. We did not have a problem with noise at all when the balcony door was closed. While we could feel the subway rumble, that was not a problem at all.
The staff were pleasant and helpful, although we found the women at the front desk a little reserved. The gentleman who works the front desk in the evening, Alejandro (from Brazil), spoke the best English and was very outgoing and accomodating. He always greeted us when we came down from our room or came in from wandering the city. He was wonderful!
We were in Barcelona during Feste de la Merce, so the city was bursting with people. The hotel was a pleasant respite from all of the noise and confusion of this wonderful festival. My one suggestion would be that the hotel have Feste information available for guests.
While we didn’t use the hotel pool, we did go up to look at it and see the view of the city from the roof. Everything up there was spotlessly clean, too, and the view was rather nice. (Please note that someone on some site says you have a view of Sagrada Familia from the roof. . . .You do not. The gothic church you can see from Hotel Jazz is the Cathedral in the Barri Gotic.)
The only negative comment I have is regarding the fact that I emailed the hotel directly numerous times prior to our trip, and I never received a reply.
Since I found this hotel through tripadvisor.com, I didn’t know exactly what to expect. To say the least, we were very pleased with the hotel and the experience. We intend to return to Barcelona and Hotel Jazz!”
