US President Barack Obama expressed this week his desire to return to the city, during a bilateral meeting in Prague with Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. Obama expressed an interest in paying a return trip to the Catalan capital.
“I would like to go to Spain and return to Barcelona”, said Obama to Zapatero, according to a Moncloa spokesperson.
During his tour of Europe in 1988, Obama took a walk down the Rambla with a Senegalese man he met who was looking for work. In his book “Dreams From My Father”, Obama wrote: “While we were walking towards the Rambla, I had the impression I had known him all my life; as if we were both making the same trip, although we had set out from opposite ends of the planet”.
