Relaxing break in the Hotel 1898

Posted on 26 June 2008 in Nuñez i Navarro Hotels

Just a short break here unfortunately – 3 nights wasn’t quite enough. Definitely the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Barcelona, and what a brilliant location. It’s right in the heart of the old town, and close to the Metro, and Renfe & FGC at Placa de Catalunya if you want to explore further afield.

Enjoyed a bit of sunbathing on the rooftop terrace which was very well appointed with lots of comfy lounging areas. To my regret I never got down to the spa, but there’s always a next time!

We had breakfast just on the first morning – a little overpriced maybe at 20 Euros, but there was quite a good spread of juices, breads, fruit and pastries and, bizarrely, chocolate cake!

We just had a basic room which was extremely comfortable, very clean and unusually for Europe, had a kettle and tea/coffee which was very welcome (even if the maid forgot to leave milk one day!) The bathroom was lovely, all in green marble, with a good shower. And it was all lovely and clean and shiny.

I’d really have to be looking very hard to find any complaints, and all said I had a brilliant time and can’t wait to go back again.
