Posted on 4 July 2008 in Barcelona, always!

At Palau Robert in Barcelona, Reuters news agency will soon be showing a selection of more than 80 photographs about current affairs issues such as globalisation, terrorism, climate change and immigration that were taken during the period 2000–2005. The name of the exhibition is “Reuters: The State of the World”, and it is dedicated to the 240 journalists who have died since 2000 while exercising their profession. The exhibition will open to the public on Friday 4 July 2008.

The inauguration ceremony will take place on 4 July at 11 am, and will be attended by Indalecio Mondéjar, Director of Caja Mediterráneo for Catalonia (CAM, the savings bank that is sponsoring the exhibition); by Ayperi Karabuda, Vice-President of Pictures, Reuters Media; and by Roser Clavell, Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Catalan Government.

The photographs that make up this exhibition have been selected from an archive containing millions of pictures. All of them were taken by the 600 photographers who work for Reuters, the largest news agency in the world. These photographs were also used in the book with the same title as the exhibition that contains more than 500 photographs and news articles.
