Fira de Barcelona will host the Smart City Expo World Congress, the world’s most important congress on smart city technologies, innovation and initiatives, from 13 to 15 November 2012.
The congress is being held in response to a need to think up ways for making cities adapt to their citizens’ requirements, seeing as the 75% of the world’s population will be living in cities within the coming decades, according to UN estimates.
One of the congress’ activities will be the Smart Innovation Tour, offering those taking part an opportunity to see how technologies are being applied in Barcelona, such as, for example, in the areas of mobility and social services.
Besides its exhibition area and speakers, the Smart City Expo World Congress will be presenting several new features this year. Participants will be able to visit the Smart City Plaza, where businesses present some of the solutions they have been applying to bring about a more efficient management of urban services.
There will also be an Open Innovation Market Place, a meeting place for city officials, big companies and small entrepreneurs. A mobile application has also been developed to enable participants to follow the entire congress at ease.[+ info Smart City Expo World Congress 2012]
