“We stayed at the Hotel Soho Barcelona for four nights the last weekend in February 2008 and were very happy. The hotel layout and decor were exceptional. The room had every amenity that we needed. The bathtub was long and deep which is remarkable for hotels in Europe. The bidet in the WC is always appreciated when available, as it was here. The large screen TV was a pleasure for relaxing between activities in the beautiful neighborhood which is just a 10 to 15 minute walk to the main shopping street, Paseig de Gracia. If you are gay and single, as we are, the location is perfect with loads of gay bars and clubs and “gay friendly” restaurants. The desk clerk even gave us free passes to the most popular gay nightclub and apparently had free admission passes to numerous activities, straight or gay.
The free internet was terrific and located in a public area downstairs with a beautiful decor, not in some stale business center. When we advised the clerk that we were checking out Sunday morning he asked if we would need to leave our bags and even let us know that we could use the restroom downstairs to freshen up and change after a day of touring before heading to the airport. We are not smokers and when we arrived our room did smell of smoke, but that odor dissipated in a matter of hours. Overall the maid service was excellent although they didn’t stock our shower gel, shampoo and soap the last night and we had to get it off their cart in the morning. We had to buy bottled water because the tap water tasted bad, but that’s a city issue, not a hotel issue. Our room overlooked the street but we heard not noise due to the ‘double vitrage’ windows. It was too cold to swim, but the pool and deck were lovely and I am sure thoroughly enjoyed in season. We didn’t partake of the breakfast at the hotel, so I can’t comment on that.
All things considered, I would love to stay at this hotel many times over!”
