Barcelona Design Week

The fourth BCN Design Week will be one of the big events on the IF Barcelona programme with sessions dealing with the main challenges facing this European project. BCN Design Week 2009 runs from 26 to 30 October and is one of the events promoting and debating design not to be missed in the international diary .

Businesses of diverse productive or services sectors, professionals and experts of the world of design as well as prestigious speakers will give themselves appointment in a platform of experiences in which the main topics to be addressed are Design Thinking & Creativity, Design Management, Mobile Design or Creativity and family business, among other topics.

The activities to be orgnized for this fourth edition will be held at top venues such as CaixaForum, MACBA, Casa Llotja de Mar and the Mies van der Rohe pavilion.

The 2009 BCN Design Week acquires special relevancy due to the celebration of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation.

Innovation Festival Barcelona 2009

Barcelona has been chosen to launch the European Innovation Festivals, a project promoted by the European Commission with the aim of promoting and stimulating excellence and innovation in various European regions.

The Catalan capital gets them under way between 22 October and 22 November with Innovation Festival Barcelona (IF Barcelona), the first of six similar events to be held in various European cities between now and 2011. During the course of this project cities like Milan (Italy), Lisbon (Portugal), Tallinn (Estonia), Vilnius (Lithuania) and Kortrijk (Belgium) will follow Barcelona to boost their international profile as creative, innovative cities.

European Innovation Festival in Barcelona

With the aim of stimulating creativity and innovation and attracting talent, IF Barcelona, organised by the Barcelona Centre de Disseny (BCD – Barcelona Design Centre) includes a programme of events and activities that seeks to show creativity and innovation provide an answer to the current needs and challenges of our society, while highlighting the fundamental role design has in giving an impulse to innovation.

To achieve that Barcelona is holding a month of activities, exhibitions, talks, workshops, congresses, awards and itineraries designed to bring creativity and innovation closer to a broad range of publics.

This means involving and raising the awareness of the general public, as well as companies, business people and public bodies, of the vital role played by creativity, design and innovation in social development and progress, as well as the competitiveness of businesses and the economy.
