After a spectacular world premiere with an audience of 40,000 in Amsterdam in July, the new edition is going to fill the Palau Sant Jordi with people dressed in white and ready to dance to this new festival concept.
On the 8th of October 2011, Sensation will make its return to Barcelona. The venue, Palau Sant Jordi, will be transformed into Innerspace, making it the second city to host Sensation’s latest theme after the premiere in the Amsterdam Arena.
Sensation started in Amsterdam in the year 2000. Since then, over 1,5 million visitors in seventeen countries have experienced what is arguably the world’s most spectacular dance and music phenomenon. Each year, Sensation tours the globe with a completely new show. Consistently taking the acclaimed theme ‘be part of the night, dress in white’ to new heights, Sensation’s aim is to bring a positive message to a growing global audience.

Sensation Innerspace Barcelona
Barcelona will be dressing up in white with Sensation Innerspace, a new, exclusive event dedicated to dance music. Wally López, Sharam, Fedde Le Grand and Mr White are just some of the artists who will be bringing Barcelona the very best in electronic music at the moment. Máxima FM, the media partner for Sensation Barcelona, will broadcast the event.

Beautiful room, clean and have everything you need

We had a great stay in Hotel Barcelona Universal for five nights from 14 till 19 September. We stayed there during our Herbalife Extravaganza, because it looks good on the website and it was central to Palau Saint Jordi, where the convention was.
It was better than expected. Friendly staff who appoliziged that we had no rooms together (3 families). Beautiful room, clean and have everything you need.
There was a wide choice at breakfast. The nice swimming pool on the roof gives us a nice view over the city and a pleasant relaxing bath.
This hotel will be our standard whan we visit Barcelona. Till next year!

SpongeBob, the musical in Barcelona

Have you every dreamt of seeing SpongeBob, alongside his friends Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks, Eugene Krabs and Squidward Tentacles, close-up? Well, now your dream’s come true, because they’re all coming over to the Palau Sant Jordi in a musical that will delight children.
SpongeBob SquarePants is an extremely energetic and optimistic sea sponge (although his appearance more closely resembles a kitchen sponge) who lives in a pineapple under the sea with his pet snail Gary, who meows like a cat. Although Gary only actually speaks in a few episodes, (mainly in “Sleepy Time” in Spongebob’s dream world, where Gary is portrayed as a librarian with an English accent) the characters have shown an ability to understand him. Living two houses down from SpongeBob is his best friend Patrick Star, a dim-witted yet friendly pink seastar who lives under a rock. Living between the two is Squidward Tentacles, an arrogant and egotistical octopus[2] who lives in an Easter Island moai and dislikes his neighbors (especially SpongeBob) for their child-like behavior. He enjoys playing the clarinet and painting self-portraits.
A creative team headed by Flipy were commissioned to bring this show, where children can interact with their favourite characters, to Barcelona. The show is based on a television episode called The Lost Episode: The Sponge Who Could Fly.

Barcelona will host the World Aquatic Championships in 2013, after being chosen unanimously by the members of the FINA at its meeting in Punta del Este (Uruguay).

CN Barceloneta pool
World Aquatic Championships will return to the Catalan capital after 10 years, as Barcelona already organized World Championships in 2003, which is considered one of the best editions. This fact has undoubtedly been a key in the re-election of Barcelona, following the withdrawal of alleged economic problems in Dubai.
The other candidate cities were Hamburg, Moscow, Sydney and Seoul. Although no official confirmation yet, probably will be Palau Sant Jordi were most of the events will be host, building an Olympic swimming pool inside as was done in 2003; and Picornell swimming pools, CN Barceloneta and Port of Barcelona will host synchronized swimming & jumping, waterpolo and open-water swimming, respectively.
Barcelona becomes once again the World Capital of Sport, following the steps initiated in 1992 with the organization of the XXV Olympic Games.

Euroleague Basketball is pleased to announce Barcelona as the host city for the 2011 Euroleague Final Four. With conversations between Euroleague and the Municipality of Barcelona for a future Final Four being at an advanced stage, both parties are confident that the city is ideal to host the final of the top European club competition on the weekend of May 6-8 at the Palau Sant Jordi.

Regal FC Barcelona - champion Final Four 2010
It will be the third time that Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi will host the Euroleague Final Four. In 1998, Kinder Bologna lifted its first Euroleague trophy by downing AEK Athens 58-44 in the title game behind 14 points from Antoine Rigaudeau. In 2003, FC Barcelona seized the Euroleague crown at home with a 76-65 victory over Benetton Treviso. Barcelona also hosted the 1969 European Cup final.
