Hi everybody,
We are Silvia e Matteo from Italy. We stayed in Europark Hotel for four nights, from July 25 to 29. Since we entered, we found the hotel simply perfect! The place is very charming, near the centre of a wonderful city, just few steps from a Metro station.
Hotel Europark Barcelona
The staff is kind and efficient; when we saw our room we thought “this is a four star, not a three!”: it was spacious, with design furniture, a big double bed and a comfortable bathroom. The swimming pool on the roof was perfect to take a rest after a tiring day.
We thank you for your kindness and your interest and we hope to come back soon!

Hotel Barcelona Universal: Sehr empfehlenswert

Sehr empfehlenswert.

Sant Joan, the Night of Fire
June 21, 2011 by admin
Filed under Barcelona, always!, Newest experiences
The evening of June 23rd is the Eve of Fire before the Feast Day of St John the Baptist. Revetlla de Sant Joan is the Catalan name for this Eve.

Coca de Sant Joan
In Barcelona and related Mediterranean areas, ancient pre-Christian traditions related to fire festivities are still among the most popular. Bonfires are lit in the streets or on the sand of the beaches, the rituals are jumping over the fire, touch the water that is blessed in the night or asking for some wishes, and there are fireworks too. Special meals are also served on this occasion. Coca de Sant Joan, a traditional Catalan pastry, can be found on every table.
Both if you are plannig to go to the beach, or staying in one of our terraces in Barcelona, make sure to enjoy this magical Eve and be ready for firecrackers and fireworks all night long.
I would love to return!

We have just stayed in your fabulous hotel (Europark) for four nights, 16 of us celebrating my 40th birthday….we had a blast!!!
Absolutely everything exceeded our expectations. The hotel was in a great location to enable us to explore all the sights of Barcelona. Countless bars & restaurants in the nearby vacinity & the most helpful, friendly staff I have ever encountered. The reception staff were always willing to suggest good restaurants, call cabs & generally help with everything we needed. In addition to the great service was the cleanliness of the hotel (rooms, restaurant, bar, reception, pool area)all areas were kept immaculate.
I would, indeed & already have recommended the Hotel Europark to my friends & family. I would love to return!
Please thank your wonderful staff….they made our stay very enjoyable.

Dear NN Hotels,
We just returned home (USA) from our first Barcelona trip, a treat from my wife and I to my parents.
Our Europark hotel stay was truly fabulous, from the elegant modern decor to the relaxed atmosphere to the staff whose personalized service elevated this hotel to luxury status in my modest opinion.
Special compliments to senor Bosch, the food manager his assistant Lillibeth, and Elias, the front office clerk. They “always” went the extra mile to ensure our needs and wants were met.
For anyone planning a trip to Barcelona, do not waste your time looking any further, this is a five star hotel at a three star price!
Thanks for making our trip a wonderful experience!

We really enjoyed our stay at your hotel

We really enjoyed our stay at your hotel. We liked the fact there were ample hotel personnel when we returned to the hotel late at night. Our room was very clean. We appreciated the fact that our room was available when we arrived at the hotel around 11:30 a.m. after a long flight. The breakfast hours were convenient, and the buffet was very nice. We particularly enjoyed the celebration in a Barcelona after the big soccer win!
Buena noches,

Hotel Barcelona Universal: much more than what you pay for

The old adage goes; you get what you pay for.
In all things this is mostly true – however there are a few rare exceptions out there and Hotel Barcelona Universal is one of them.
Hotel Barcelona Universal is one of these rare cases where you get so much more than what you pay for – you get true value for each penny spent. I cannot even begin to list how impressed I was with what this hotel provided. We felt truly cared for; and while this is commonplace at hotels such as the Waldorf in New York, the d’Angleterre in Copenhagen, the Mamonia in Marrakesh it was not what I expected from a fairly cheap hotel picked by more or less chance on a vague recommendation from a friend.
The Hotel is located a few minutes walk from the Rambla. A few minutes walk from the Port Vell and the Rambla del Mar, and a mere second away from the closest subway. A walk to plaze Catalunya takes about 10 mins at a slow pace looking at the shops in the backalleys and is quite a charming experience. The Barcelona Universal gives you the opportunity to experience life in Barcelona by making you take a short walk through a few genuine, “untouristy” blocks before landing you smack down in the middle of the Rambla. Or you could simply hop on the metro outside the hotel and go where ever you like.

Hotel Barcelona Universal
Inside the hotel itself we were greeted by the doorman every time we came or went, and the staff were always very helpful no matter what we asked for. The rooms were meticulously clean and tastefully decorated. Minibar, TV with USB (Just bring what you want to watch on a USB stick, plug it in on the back of the TV and use the remote) and bathtub was standard as was WiFi albeit it was a bit shaky and up and down at times.
The breakfast buffet deserves special attention since it was on par with the most exclusive hotels I’ve visited (see above) although somewhat smaller. Several kinds of bread, including rye and darker breads, eggs, bacon, sausages (worth trying, they were excellent) quiches, juices, yoghurts, fruits, croissantes, and more where aplenty. Worth mentioning for those of you with a sweet tooth is that at each buffet were atleast two kinds of cake and several kinds of doughnuts and muffins.
As for other accommodations worth mentioning one cannot forget the rooftop pool and the astroturf garden / sundeck on the top floor together with the small but clean and well stocked gym also on the top floor located next to the pool. The surrounding decked area is stocked with comfortable lounge chairs and as made for bringing your own beer and taking in the panoramic view over the city.
All in all – this hotel gives you the most bang for your buck I’ve ever come across. Friendly and helpful staff, clean and tasteful rooms, freedom to move around and simply enjoy the city and your accommodation to the fullest.
Four stars in the guide – I’d give it Four+ and a half
Enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Barcelona Hotel Terraces Week

“A vista d’hotel” is a new initiative designed by Gremi d’Hotels de Barcelona and Ajuntament de Barcelona by opening up the terraces at 36 city hotels to locals for free during five days, from 3 to 7 May.
It is not just a question of enjoying the views or open air, either. Each terrace will become a cultural setting and you will be able to enjoy them while all these events and activities are taking place.
The hotels have a special gastronomic idea for the occasion. They are all preparing a Mediterranean juice or non-alcoholic fruit cocktail. The recipe will be different on each terrace. Those of you who want to fill your stomach a little more will have a choice of aperitifs, tapas and food and wine tasting suppers.
Núñez i Navarro Hotels, offers their terraces: Hotel 1898 in Las Ramblas and the rooftop of B-Hotel in plaza Espanya:
- La Isabela, the H1898′s terrace, offers this Friday May 06, from 19h to 22h, lounge music with Dj session & live sax.
- The B-Pool, the terrace of B-Hotel, also on Friday May 06, from 20h to 22h, chill out music & remember session (80′s – 90′s) by Dj Mono.
At the same time a photo competition has been organised for people taking part in these activities. There are three categories: one for the picture that best illustrates the city from a terrace, another for the best picture of one of the terraces and the third for the picture that best captures the atmosphere of the terrace.

Mid Beach Season in Barcelona!
April 11, 2011 by admin
Filed under Barcelona, always!, Newest experiences, Reviews of our hotels
With ‘mid beach season‘ now upon us, most of the seasonal services have now been launched: showers, beach refreshment stands and outdoor lavatories will all be opened to the public.
Over all the weekends in April, the Easter holidays, and from 1 to 29 May, various Red Cross and Guàrdia Urbana [city police] rescue and first-aid services will be activated, along with environmental information services.
Cleaning measures have also been launched, with daily operations and an expected doubling of the number of waste bins.
Security measures include both uniformed and civilian police beach patrols on foot, and various beach-based prevention and response units for muggings, robberies and hawking on the beach.
What’s more, there will be extra patrols from district and specialist units such as: the Administrative and Security Police Unit (UPAS), the Day-Time Support Unit (USD), the Mounted Unit (UM), the Centralised Night-Time Unit (UNOC) and the Traffic Unit (UC).
The Barcelona Beaches website will be providing real-time information over the Easter holidays on sea conditions, flags, temperatures and sunshine (UV index) for each of the beaches. This year the city’s beaches will offer city residents 14 free WiFi hotspots, in addition to the 411 hotspots spread through out the city.
Don’t leave your vacation to the last minute. Make your reservation today, and don’t let your vacation go without you. Sink into Barcelona!!!
