Things we loved at U232 Hotel

We stayed at Hotel U232 for 3 nights during the first week of September. We chose this hotel because the rates were reasonable and we had arrived by train from Madrid and this hotel is located one easy and short metro ride from the Barcelona Sants Railway Station. As most reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is a little bit outside the heart of the city and it’s a bit of a pain to switch trains plus a hike through some really long corridors at the Diagonal Metro Station to get to La Rambla. But we found the benefits of staying at this hotel far outweighed the cons.

For us, we thought the biggest benefit (besides the proximity to the Sants train station) was the dining options in the area. Our best meals in Barcelona were all at restaurants within walking distance from this hotel, and prices around here were very reasonable compared to the tourist-driven restaurants in the city centre. We particularly loved Maitea Taberna and their wide variety of delicious tapas. Maitea Taberna is located about 2.5 blocks away from the hotel on Carrer de Casanova. The staff at the restaurant was very friendly and patient as we were trying to figure out the whole process. We loved the food there so much that we went back a second time. Another terrific restaurant was Gusto, located 1.5 blocks away and right across the street from the metro station.

I would come back to this hotel just to eat at those establishments again! Other things we loved about the hotel:

  • Very quiet, spacious and comfortable rooms for reasonable rates. We stayed on the second floor and had a balcony. Albeit the balcony was right smack dab in the middle of a coutyard in the middle of a network of apartments. But it was nice to step outside on a warm night with a drink and look inside the well-lit apartments all around us!
  • Free wi-fi plus there are two desktops and one printer for public use. Very handy as we didn’t bring our laptop with us.
  • Room was equipped with a safe and fridge, which I think should be essentials in every hotel room.
  • Besides the restaurants I mentioned above, there were also plenty of places where you can grab breakfast, or a quick bite.
  • There are a couple of Suma supermarkets and they are both within 2 or 3 blocks from the hotel. Great place to buy snacks and drinks to stock the fridge.
  • Even though you need to switch metro trains to get to La Rambla, there are some places that are easily accessible from this hotel, such as Sagrada Familia and the Sants Railway Station.
  • Well staffed. Everytime we dealt with the front desk (checking in, checking out, storing luugage, questions), somebody was alway available to help us.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back at the hotel were very quiet. Didn’t hear any traffic during our entire stay.

Hotel Jazz: Recommended

It was the first time for me at Jazz Hotel, Barcelona. It was a really great discover!!

A warm and efficient welcome; a wonderful, brand new and design room; a full and succulent breakfast.

More the hotel is located in a few steps of the centre of Barcelona, just near Placa Catalunya et Ramblas (and in my case, for the “Merce festival week-end activities”). You go out the aerobus and you can enjoy your stay some minutes later. So great!

More? Enjoy the sun-deck swinning pool and have a look in the mirror of the lift…

I really recommand these hotel!! Don’t hesitate for your next stay.

I dont’ understand why it is only rated as a 3 stars and not as a 4 stars.

We would recommend the Hotel Europark to other travellers

We recently spent 4 nights at the Hotel Europark. Our stay was very enjoyable. The hotel was initially chosen as we were looking for somewhere with a pool and Tripadvisor comments recommended this as a good choice. The hotel was very quiet and comfortable, located close to the Metro and supermarket for essentials and the staff were all very helpful. Our rooms were great and housekeeping looked after them well. We would recommend the Hotel Europark to other travellers.

Beautiful room, clean and have everything you need

We had a great stay in Hotel Barcelona Universal for five nights from 14 till 19 September. We stayed there during our Herbalife Extravaganza, because it looks good on the website and it was central to Palau Saint Jordi, where the convention was.
It was better than expected. Friendly staff who appoliziged that we had no rooms together (3 families). Beautiful room, clean and have everything you need.
There was a wide choice at breakfast. The nice swimming pool on the roof gives us a nice view over the city and a pleasant relaxing bath.
This hotel will be our standard whan we visit Barcelona. Till next year!

I’d most certainly wish to return at Europark Hotel

It was our second stay at this wonderful hotel. Strengths of this hotel are:

- Its central location in relation to both the historical center and as well as the business districts of Barcelona.
- Highly comfortable and well equipped rooms with a very neat room service
- A varied breakfast buffet with an accurate, pleasant service
- A very friendly and efficient organization at the reception desk
- ICT facilities
- The stunning roof terrace with its surprising view of the surrounding neighborhood

An absolute must for those who want a carefree stay in a bustling metropolis.
I’d most certainly wish to return at Europark Hotel.

A very nice stay at Europark Hotel

We came for four days to Barcelona and booked our room at Europark Hotel thanks to the good feed backs on TripAdvisor…and we absolutely don’t regret it. The Hotel was very nice and the staff very helpful. The swimming pool was a real delight after long hours of walk around most of Barcelona’s must see sights. The only weak points of our room I could find are that it was right under the breakfast room and it was a bit noisy from 6 am, and that we heard many doors slapping early in the morning (especially the one separating us from the lobby – our room was on the ground floor)

However we really enjoyied our stay!

Thanks Europark team.

U232 Hotel review

We stayed in U232 Hotel in Barcelona in September 2011. We had a very great time there and really could enjoy our trip in Barcelona. The U232 is one of the best hotels we ever stayed although we visited a lot in London, Paris, New York… etc. The room was very well designed and the service was also top. The staff was very polite and helful. The breakfast is excellent and has a high quality standard.
We will come back sure. We can recommand this hotel to everyone who wants to visit Barcelona.

Hotel Barcelona Universal review

Dear all at Barcelona Universal Hotel.

Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at your hotel. We stayed 14th August -20th August. Our Room excellent, bathroom too. All the staff were very nice and efficient. Great advice on buses and other travel details at the front desk. The gentleman who took the cases into the store was really nice, we had to go to our bags on many occasions. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We arrived early Sunday from the night train from Paris.
The buffet breakfast is one of the best we have experienced excellent choice and kept us going until evening .
The city is fantastic all the art and buildings, you must be very proud of. Pity that so much bad press about pick pockets, we just acted sensibly walking through the local streets was no problem at all. We live in a very multicultural city in England and found the streets around the hotel interesting and not at all worrying.

There was so much to see so we may come back for a visit again as we didn’t get to visit all the great galleries and old streets. Perhaps a few more days on the beach.

I think the only thing we missed is having a kettle in our room to make tea and coffee in the afternoon, must be a British thing!

Thank you all again for a very nice stay at your hotel, all the emails we sent before we arrived were dealt with promptly and this gave us a good room.
Kind regards

Hotel Europark a Barcellona

Hotel Jazz: Great rooms, great pool, great price

This is our second time spending a week in Barcelona at the Hotel Jazz. For the price it’s unbeatable. Comfortable rooms with contemporary Spanish design. Great rooftop pool – not huge, but not a puddle like at some other design hotels like Cram. The rooftop pool has enough comfortable loungers, enough nice fluffy towels, and a nice little bar.

Very helpful and friendly desk staff. Great central location right in between the main square (Plaza de Catalunya, direct bus to airport, Corte Ingles department store) and the Eixample/Gracia shopping, restaurant and nightlife area.
