The Grec’08 Barcelona Festival

The Grec’08 Barcelona Festival starts next June 25 with renewed ideas, new formats and new ambitions.

Thus, the festival celebrates its 32 th edition full of new and little-known artists, “fleeing the mediatitzación” by such “to stimulate and arouse the curiosity of the public”, according to the director of Grec, Ricardo Szwarcer.

A total of 57 performances are scheduled so that, according to the Mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, is “the most important cultural challenge of the city.”

For Szwarcer, this edition begins with new ambitions, and the show opening, History soldier Stravinsky, directed by Nigel Lowery and Amir Hosseinpour. “We hope the opening for artists little known, in what is the letter of intent of the festival’s artistic ideology.”

Free Shows

One of the attractions of this year’s edition is “The Nit de Montjuic”, Saturday July 5, which “seeks to bring citizens the mountain and its cultural and public spaces,” according to the delegate explained Culture l ‘ Town Hall, Jordi Marti.

The evening will begin with a free concert at the Teatre Grec of the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, and all the cultural facilities of the mountain will remain open until 5 o’clock in the morning.

Other free shows of the festival are the cycle “July in Libraries”, as well as various performances to be held in La Caldera.
