Lovers of action sports can now enjoy the feeling of speed, leaps and jumps on a scooter, bike or skateboard at the Urban Sports Park in Mar Bella, by the beach.
The new sports ground, in the Sant Martí district, is close to 3.000 square metres in area. There is a skating zone with several levels of difficulty and areas for the various skating disciplines. It also includes very high-level elements, such as funboxes and ramps for bikers.
Skaters, skateboarders and BMXers already tried out the facility where helmets are recommended. Kids under 12 who use the area should do so under the supervision of an adult and not draw or paint on the skating surface as it makes it more difficult to slide on.
The Mar Bella park is one of the new spaces planned for this kind of urban sport that the City Hall is launching through the Institut Barcelona Esports and it is already preparing the Àurea Cuadrado Urban Sports Park, in the Les Corts district.
Details of other projects linked to these sports are also being finalised. The council is responding to the demands from urban sports groups following the success of the X Games Barcelona.
