From 1 April, Vodafone will be the exclusive sponsor for Bicing, through a three-year sponsorship agreement signed between Barcelona Municipal Services, the integrated-communications company and Clear Channel, the company awarded the Bicing tender.
According to this agreement, Vodafone will pay 1.2 million euros during the first year of the contract in return for the exclusive concession of Bicing spaces. During the three-year contract, Vodafone will pay more than four million euros to the municipal bicycle-rental service (which will be called Vodafone Bicing), in exchange for putting the company’s brand and logo on the different spaces available: the bicycles, the stations, the fleet of vehicles, staff uniforms, the website and Bicing’s social networks, where the two brands will work together through joint initiatives. The new image will be progressively implemented over the next few weeks.
Vodafone has also made a commitment to provide Bicing with all electronic communications services and to include new technological solutions which will improve the service.
This includes NFC technology, through Vodafone Wallet, in order to activate the service and release the bicycle. There will also be improvements to the Bicing App which will provide new functions, such as offering more information related to the service: distance covered, average speed, CO2 saved…
