The UPF is awarding the degree in recognition of his life and work.
Well-known director Woody Allen will receive an honorary doctor’s degree from the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) on 14 June, the University has announced.

Allen, who has accepted the award, will take advantage of the start of shooting of his latest film, which is set in the Catalan capital and stars Scarlett Johansson, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz.

The award ceremony will take place in the Barcelona Ciutadella Campus auditorium and will be open to anyone at the University. The initiative is the idea of UPF Rector Josep Joan Moreso and is in recognition of the director’s life and work.

Allen will be the third person to receive the degree from the UPF. The first was the South African pacifist Desmond Tutu, in 2000, and the second was the theologian and historian Miquel Batllori, in 2002.
